SANS Institute offers new courses at their Canberra Security Training Conference Virtualisation: This course equips students with the tools they need to properly secure their virtual environments and maintain their desired security and compliance posture. SANS Institute in conjunction with their local partner in Aust- ralia and New Zealand, Shear- water Solutions, is holding a major security training event in Can- berra from July 12-17. This follows on from the pre- vious year's successful training event and places it as a regular event on the Australian calendar. Ray Kantor, a director of Shear- water Solutions, confirmed that the previous Canberra training attracted a large audience and a number of these tracks were sold out. There is strong demand this year and SANS is introducing a number of new courses to the Australian market. Two of these courses will be offered at Can- berra -- Virtualisation Security Fundamentals and Reverse Engineering Malware: Malware Analysis Tools and Techniques. Malware analysis skills are becoming increasingly important as organisations rely on their staff as first responders during a secur- ity incident. The Malware course discusses practical approaches to examin- ing malware using a variety of system monitoring utilities such as a disassembler, a debugger, and other tools useful for reverse engineering malicious software. Virtualisation is one of the largest growth areas and many organisations are realising the benefits of using virtual servers. This technology also presents new potential threats and exploits that must be understood and managed. This course equips students with the tools they need to prop- erly secure their virtual environ- ments and maintain their desired security and compliance posture. Details can be found at www.sans.org/canberra-2010 Tuition includes training by world-class instructors who are recognised leaders in their field, and many networking opportun- ities including evening presenta- tions by SANS instructors on rel- evant topics. The SANS Institute was estab- lished in 1989 as a cooperative research and education organis- ation. Its programs reach more than 165,000 security profes- sionals, auditors, system admini- strators, network administrators, chief information security officers, and chief information officers around the world, including Aust- ralian government agencies, banks, universities and enterpr- ises.
